The Rockland Chapter of NYSSPE will be hosting a PDH lecture about Introduction to Composite Strengthening Systems on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at 7:30 am at the office of McLaren Engineering Group, 100 Snake Hill Road, West Nyack, NY 10994. Simpson Strong-Tie® recently introduced externally-bonded Composite Strengthening Systems™ (CSS) for reinforcement of existing reinforced concrete and masonry structural elements. This 1 PDH presentation will explore the fundamentals of FRP, its applications, design, installation, and quality control measures relative to a variety of structural members. This workshop provides suggestions and insights regarding the efficient and creative use of FRP systems for structural and protective applications.


The lecture will be presented by Mark D. Jarvinen, P.E., Senior Field Engineer for Simpson Strong-Tie Co.  Mark’s primary responsibilities include educating and supporting design professionals and specifiers regarding the Code-compliant specification, design, installation, field inspection, and testing of post-installed anchor and repair products for concrete and masonry. Mark is professionally registered as a Structural Engineer in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, an active member of the International Concrete Repair Institute (ICRI), and certified as an ACI/CRSI Adhesive Anchor Installer.

The cost of the event is $12/person for Rockland Chapter NYSSPE members and $25/person for non-members.  All payments should be made payable to Rockland Chapter NYSSPE and will be accepted at the door.
